Sierra Leone’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Alpha Sesay, and the Deputy Minister of Justice, Saptieu Saccoh Esq., recently held a fruitful Zoom meeting with the Director General of the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO), Bemanya Twebaze, according to a statement from AG’s Office
The virtual meeting focused on strengthening Sierra Leone’s intellectual property (IP) framework and preparations for the upcoming 4th Heads of IP Offices conference, set to be held in Freetown, Sierra Leone. The discussions underscored Sierra Leone’s readiness to host this pivotal event, which will bring together regional and international stakeholders in the intellectual property field. This collaboration highlights Sierra Leone’s growing commitment to improving its IP infrastructure and contributing to the broader African IP ecosystem.
Attorney General Alpha Sesay assured the team of Sierra Leone’s dedication to protecting the rights of innovators and businesses, with the aim of fostering a vibrant creative economy that will attract global partnerships.
Director General Bemanya Twebaze expressed his commitment and support for this initiative while emphasizing the importance of collaboration in enhancing intellectual property management across Africa.
The 4th Heads of IP Offices conference, to be hosted in Freetown later this year, will gather IP experts, government officials, and representatives from global organizations. This conference will provide Sierra Leone with a platform to showcase its progress in IP development while engaging with other African countries to find solutions to shared challenges.
