Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh attended as the special guest, underscoring the Academy’s role in Sierra Leone’s cultural development. The evening featured stellar performances, beginning with The Shining Stars, a group of visually impaired students whose inspiring musical journey began at the School for the Blind. Their performance captivated the audience, illustrating the Academy’s commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.
The Ballanta Ballet, composed of children from the Kroo Bay community, also took the stage, demonstrating the impact of BAMPA’s outreach programs in nurturing young artistic talent. Additionally, Groovy Colors, the Academy’s premier band, and the Small Giant Dancers, trained by internationally acclaimed dancer Harold George, delivered vibrant and dynamic performances.
Acting Principal Bobson Kamara reflected on the Academy’s remarkable growth, recounting its humble beginnings and the transformation of its facilities through stakeholder support. Dr. Julius Spencer, Chair of the Ballanta Academy Board, highlighted the institution’s evolution from a classical music-focused school to a broad-based performing arts center.
In his keynote address, Vice President Jalloh praised BAMPA’s contributions to national development, particularly its role in empowering disadvantaged youth through the arts.
