French Ambassador Visits President Bio, Strengthens Bilateral Ties

Freetown, Sierra Leone — May 13, 2025: French Ambassador to Sierra Leone, His Excellency Briard Luc, paid a courtesy visit to President Dr. Julius Maada Bio at State House in Freetown, reaffirming France’s commitment to deepening diplomatic relations with Sierra Leone.

During the meeting, Ambassador Luc praised President Bio’s leadership, commending his dedication to Sierra Leone’s development and its growing international influence, particularly within the United Nations Security Council.

The French envoy also briefed President Bio on the upcoming United Nations Ocean Conference, scheduled to take place in Nice, France, in June. He emphasized the importance of Sierra Leone’s participation, highlighting global efforts to advance ocean conservation and sustainable development.

President Bio welcomed the ambassador’s visit, reiterating his government’s commitment to strengthening Sierra Leone-France relations across key sectors, including investment, security, and agriculture.

“My brother, President Macron, and I have had several discussions on enhancing bilateral ties in various fields,” President Bio stated.

The meeting reflects ongoing efforts between the two nations to foster collaboration on global governance, environmental sustainability, and international diplomacy.
