LONDON, May 20, 2025 – The Ministry of Technical and Higher Education of Sierra Leone has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Agilix Labs, Inc., paving the way for the establishment of the Future Learning Institute (FLI). This initiative aims to modernize Sierra Leone’s education system by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and automation into teaching and learning.
The Future Learning Institute will provide educators with the tools and resources needed to adapt swiftly to technological advancements. Key objectives include:
- Reducing the time and cost of developing curricula aligned with emerging skills
- Lowering barriers to learning through affordable, AI-powered tutoring
- Enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of learner assessment
- Allowing instructors to focus on mentorship and personalized guidance
The initiative will incorporate awareness campaigns, interactive workshops, and intensive design sessions to equip educators with practical AI teaching skills. Under the agreement, Agilix Labs will supply technological solutions, training, and operational support, while the Ministry will establish a local partner organization to manage the institute. Both parties will jointly pursue funding and a long-term sustainability plan.
Minister of Technical and Higher Education, Dr. Haja Ramatulai Wurie, described the partnership as a milestone in Sierra Leone’s educational reform. “This collaboration with Agilix Labs represents a bold leap forward in our mission to modernize and future-proof education. The Future Learning Institute will harness AI to enhance teaching, learning, and curriculum development, ensuring young people are equipped for the future,” she stated.
Agilix Labs CEO, Curt Allen, expressed enthusiasm for the project. “We are excited to collaborate with Sierra Leone to build capacity and transfer knowledge that will have a lasting impact. The Future Learning Institute will help educators and students develop the skills needed for the future,” he remarked.
