Freetown, June 4, 2025 – Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah has remanded musicians Amidu Sesay and Mohamed Henvan Kargbo in custody following their arraignment on charges related to an alleged assault on artist Frederick Peters, popularly known as Famous.
The accused appeared in court on seven charges, including conspiracy to commit a crime, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, disorderly behavior, and intimidation.
Court documents state that on February 22, 2025, at Radisson Blu Hotel in Aberdeen, Freetown, the accused conspired with others to assault Famous and Ibrahim Fofanah, causing bodily harm. CCTV footage allegedly captured the incident, where the accused were reported to have behaved disorderly and intimidated the victims.
During testimony, Famous stated that he recognized the accused as associates of musician Kao Denero. He alleged that, after arriving at the hotel for an event, he was confronted and assaulted, with one of the accused spraying pepper spray on him following an altercation.
Defense counsel Z.A. Kanu filed a bail application, arguing that the accused were colleagues of the complainant and posed no flight risk. However, Magistrate Jah refused bail, citing his policy of remanding accused persons on their first court appearance.
The case has been adjourned to June 11, 2025, for the continuation of Famous’ testimony
