Freetown, Sierra Leone – July 2, 2025: Hassan Kamara, a 45-year-old businessman, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown after being arraigned before Magistrate Mary Julian Gbloh of Pademba Road Court No. 5 on charges of land fraud.

Kamara stands accused of obtaining money by false pretences, contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916. Prosecutors allege that between 2023 and 2024, he defrauded Mohamed Mansaray of Le74,000 under the pretext of selling land near the Central Mosque in Lumley. The prosecution maintains that Kamara knowingly misrepresented his ownership of the said land.

The accused made his second court appearance on Wednesday, but no plea was taken as the prosecution, led by Sergeant 3001 Francess Lamin, requested a short adjournment to present witnesses.

Magistrate Gbloh denied bail due to the seriousness of the allegations and adjourned the matter to July 8, 2025 for further proceedings.
