Freetown—In a strategic move to bolster justice delivery across Sierra Leone’s most remote regions, Chief Justice Komba Kamanda has secured six motorcycles from the Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, His Excellency Wang Qing.

During a formal handing-over ceremony, Ambassador Wang Qing congratulated Chief Justice Kamanda on his recent appointment as Chairman of the Judicial Council of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). He expressed hope that the donation would enhance judicial capacity and expand access to legal services nationwide.

“The support stems from several developmental meetings aimed at improving service delivery in the Judiciary,” the Ambassador noted, reaffirming China’s ongoing commitment to Sierra Leone’s institutional growth.

Chief Justice Kamanda thanked the ambassador and the People’s Republic of China, praising their continued contributions to Sierra Leone’s Judiciary. He emphasized that the motorcycles would be assigned to Bailiffs tasked with delivering legal documents in regions where transportation has historically posed a barrier.

“Under my leadership, the Judiciary is now present in communities previously without Magistrates,” Kamanda said. “These motorcycles will serve the Bailiffs department to improve service delivery in areas that are difficult to access.”

He reiterated that expanding access to justice remains a core priority of his administration, and the new motorcycles represent a tangible step toward faster and more inclusive legal proceedings.

Receiving the vehicle documents and keys, Kamanda reflected on the strong diplomatic ties between Sierra Leone and China, expressing confidence in the continued mutual benefits of their longstanding partnership.
