No Borders, No Limits: Babadi Pushes for a Transparent SLFA

By Sallieu S. Kanu

In a nation where football stirs hearts more than any political rally, the race for the presidency of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has seized public attention—and leading the charge is a man whose name echoes far beyond the pitch: Babadi Kamara, widely recognized as “A Candidate Without Borders.”

Kamara’s journey into football administration was not born in elite boardrooms but on the dusty pitches of Bo and Freetown, where he tirelessly funded and organized youth tournaments. Over time, his dedication evolved into player management and club development, establishing connections across Africa and Europe—from Lagos to London, Dakar to Dubai. His work has helped countless Sierra Leonean players break into international circles, bridging the gap between local talent and global opportunities.

Speaking recently in Freetown, Kamara declared:

“My goal is simple: to give our players, clubs, coaches, and fans the system they deserve — one that works, one that’s fair, and one that connects Sierra Leone to the global football family.”

His campaign stands on a foundation of transparency, inclusiveness, and reform, garnering widespread support across club owners, district officials, retired legends, youth leagues, and football fans nationwide.

Even political figures are chiming in. Hon. Papa Bangura, a Member of Parliament from the opposition APC and prominent football executive, remarked: “Babadie is different. He’s not here to play politics. He’s here to build football.”

Despite his growing popularity, Kamara’s independent stance has drawn scrutiny from traditional SLFA insiders, with critics questioning his regional affiliations and outsider approach. His response remains calm and firm:

“I have no borders in my thinking, and football shouldn’t either. The days of closed-door deals and inner circles must end.”

Veteran sports journalist Bei Santigie Kamara praised Kamara’s campaign, stating: “Babadie is speaking our language. He’s not just promising change—he’s showing us how it can happen.”

With the SLFA elections nearing, Kamara’s candidacy continues to gain momentum, transforming the conversation around football leadership in Sierra Leone. Whether he clinches the presidency or not, his campaign has already sparked a wave of new possibilities for the future of Sierra Leonean football.

A Candidate Without Borders isn’t just a slogan—it’s a philosophy. It represents a belief that football has the power to unite, transcend politics, and carry a nation’s pride across oceans.
