IOM and Anti-Trafficking-in-Persons Secretariat Task Force partner to address Irregular Migration

By Alimatu Jalloh

With funding from the Government of Sweden, awareness-raising and screening activities are currently underway in Western Area Rural, with a two-week follow-up campaign scheduled for Kambia.

These initiatives aim to reach over 1,500 community members and are designed to:

  • Raise awareness of the risks and consequences of irregular migration
  • Identify and provide support to individuals at risk
  • Empower communities through dialogue and workshops offering safer alternatives
  • Through community outreach, interactive sessions, and collaboration with local stakeholders, these campaigns seek to equip communities with the knowledge and resources needed to make informed migration decisions.

Sincere appreciation goes to our partners, local authorities, and community participants for their commitment. Together, we are fostering resilience and working to reduce the vulnerabilities associated with irregular migration in Sierra Leone.
