Freetown, Sierra Leone – July 14, 2025 — Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah of Pademba Road Court No.1 has committed Isata Bindi to the High Court for trial over the alleged killing of her husband, Mustapha Bangura, following a domestic dispute.
The incident occurred on 2 April 2025 at the couple’s residence on Williams Drive, off Aberdeen Road. Bindi was arrested and formally charged with manslaughter on 13 May 2025, appearing before the lower court for preliminary investigation.
During the committal hearing, Magistrate Jah confirmed that the prosecution presented three witnesses, whose testimonies were cross-examined and found to be consistent. Based on the evidence, the magistrate ruled that there was sufficient cause for the accused to stand trial.
“The testimonies corroborated, and the evidence satisfies the court that the matter warrants trial before the High Court,” Magistrate Jah stated.
The magistrate further directed the senior crime officer to submit all necessary exhibits at the High Court. Bindi, responding to the court, expressed her intention to testify in her defense and indicated she would call witnesses to support her case.
She was remanded in custody pending further trial proceedings at the High Court.
