Lungi, Sierra Leone — August 2, 2025: In a pivotal moment for Sierra Leonean football, Babadi Kamara, Executive Chairman of Bo Rangers Football Club and renowned football philanthropist, has been elected President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA). The election was held at the Gateway Hotel in Lungi, Port Loko District, during the SLFA Elective Congress, where 57 delegates cast their votes.
Kamara secured a decisive 43 votes, defeating Aminata Bangura (11 votes) and Umar Bah (1 vote) to clinch the presidency. His election follows the disqualification of former SLFA President Thomas Daddy Brima, who the SLFA Ethics Committee removed for falsifying documents, submitting a false police clearance certificate, and lying under oath.
SLFA Executive Results
The Congress also elected new executive members to lead the association’s transformation:
| Position | Winner | Votes Received |
| President | Babadi Kamara | 43 |
| Vice President 1 | Alie Badara Tarawallie | 42 |
| Executive Member | Mohamed Sorie Jalloh | 45 |
| Executive Member | Ramatulai Kamara | 39 |
| Executive Member | Kweku Melvine Lisk | 38 |
The election was conducted under the SLFA’s 2025 Electoral Road Map, which included nomination reviews, appeals, and vetting. The process was not without controversy: Aminata Bangura was initially disqualified but later reinstated by a ruling from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) just days before the vote. Meanwhile, Brima’s legal challenge to delay the Congress was dismissed, clearing the way for the election to proceed.
Despite tensions and allegations of political manipulation and delegate list disputes, the Congress went ahead under the watchful eyes of FIFA observers.
Kamara’s Vision and Acceptance Speech
In his victory speech, Kamara expressed deep gratitude to the delegates and called for unity across the football fraternity. “Football is the real winner today,” he declared, emphasizing that his administration would prioritize action over politics.
He appealed to losing candidates and aggrieved parties to “let bygones be bygones” and work together for the betterment of football in Sierra Leone. “No man is an island,” Kamara said, urging collective effort to rebuild trust and drive development.
Kamara’s track record includes spearheading the construction of the 6,000-capacity Southern Arena Stadium, a landmark achievement in Sierra Leone’s football infrastructure. His bold and creative leadership at Bo Rangers has earned him widespread respect, making him a favorite among delegates.
