Freetown — Four men have been remanded in custody by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 over allegations of conspiracy to commit fraud.
The accused, Alhaji Sesay, Vidal Mansaray, Francis Sesay, and Sheku Goba, appeared in court on Tuesday, charged with conspiring to commit a felony with intent to defraud.
According to the charge sheet, the alleged offense occurred on April 15, 2025, within the Freetown Judicial District. The prosecution claims the four men conspired with unknown individuals to defraud, though specific details of the alleged scheme have not yet been disclosed in court.
Defense counsels M.A. Conteh (representing the first accused) and I.F. Sawaneh and A. Freeman (representing the second, third, and fourth accused) applied for bail, arguing that their clients are Sierra Leonean citizens with fixed addresses and pose no risk of interfering with prosecution witnesses.
Despite the application, Magistrate Jah denied bail, stating that the accused will remain in custody until substantive evidence is presented.
The matter has been adjourned for further hearing, with the court expected to begin reviewing evidence in the coming sessions.
