United States — August 9, 2025: Sierra Leonean music icon Frederick Dapaye Peters, popularly known as Famous, etched his name in the annals of music history with a landmark achievement at the Sierra Leone Music Awards (SLMA) 2025. Held in the United States, the prestigious event saw Famous clinch three of its most coveted honors: Best Music, Best Artist, and Best Album — a triumphant sweep that underscores his dominance and enduring influence in the industry.
The SLMA, now a cornerstone of Sierra Leone’s cultural celebration, was established to recognize excellence in music and honor both local and international contributions. The 2025 edition showcased the global reach of Sierra Leonean artists, blending Afrobeat, traditional rhythms, and contemporary sounds in a vibrant display of talent and heritage.
Famous, a consistent standout at previous SLMA ceremonies, expressed heartfelt gratitude following his triple win.
“I thank God for His mercy and abundant blessings that have brought me this far,” he said. He also praised Dr. Bernadette, CEO of BSK Music, and the entire BSK Music team for their unwavering support. “Their hard work and belief in my vision have been instrumental in my success,” he added.
