Sierra Leone – The Ballanta Academy of Music and Performing Arts (BAMPA) is set to host its much-anticipated Good Old Days Musical Concert on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Murray Deen School Hall in Freetown. The event promises to be a vibrant celebration of Sierra Leone’s musical heritage, blending entertainment, education, and cultural reflection.
Designed to transport audiences through time, the concert will revive classic melodies and rhythms that have shaped generations. More than a musical showcase, the event aims to foster community unity and appreciation for the country’s rich artistic traditions.
David Solom Koroma, popularly known as Double King and director of BAMPA’s premier band Groovy Colours, expressed excitement about the upcoming concert. “Step back in time with us! BAMPA presents Good Old Days,” he said, emphasizing the event’s mission to rekindle the spirit of timeless tunes.
The concert will feature performances by celebrated artists including Dr. Julius Spencer, Taylor Pearce, Trudy Morgan, Drucii Taylor Esq, Leslie Cummings-Wray, and Paul Conteh. Each performer brings a unique flair to the stage, promising a dynamic and memorable experience.
Under Koroma’s leadership, Groovy Colours will host the evening, providing a versatile musical backdrop that blends genres and evokes nostalgia. The program will include live music, storytelling, and interactive segments, allowing attendees to engage with the sounds and stories of yesteryear.
