Sierra Leone has officially won the bid to host the Pan Africa Hash (PAH) 2027, triumphing over 33 other African nations in a competitive selection process held in Ghana. The announcement marks a major milestone for the Sierra Hash House Harriers (Sierra H4) and positions Freetown as a rising destination for continental sporting and cultural events, according to a statement from the Ministry of Tourism.
The successful bid was powered by strategic backing from the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs (MTCA), led by Hon. Nabeela Farida Tunis. The Ministry’s support included signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sierra H4, providing transportation for Hashers traveling to Ghana via Liberia, and submitting an official endorsement letter from Permanent Secretary Judith C. Jones. A compelling video message from Minister Tunis further strengthened Sierra Leone’s case, resonating deeply with the Pan Africa Hash community.
With the win secured, Sierra Leone has pledged to deliver an unforgettable hashing experience in 2027. Participants can expect scenic beach runs, lush rainforest trails, vibrant city circuits, and the signature after-parties that define the Hash House Harriers culture. Freetown’s unique blend of natural beauty and urban energy will be on full display, offering a rich taste of Sierra Leonean hospitality and adventure.
“This is more than a win for Sierra H4 — it’s a win for Sierra Leone,” said a spokesperson from the organizing team. “We’re ready to welcome the continent and show the world what we have to offer.”
The victory underscores Sierra Leone’s growing reputation as a tourism powerhouse and a trusted host for international events. It also reflects the energy, commitment, and vision of Sierra H4, whose efforts have elevated the country’s profile within the global hashing community.
As the countdown to 2027 begins, excitement is building across the nation. With support from government, community, and international partners, Sierra Leone is poised to make Pan Africa Hash 2027 a historic celebration of sport, culture, and unity.
