Student Granted Bail in House Breaking and Larceny Case

Sierra Leone:  Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2 on Wednesday granted bail to Dennis Fofanah, a 21-year-old student, who is facing a charge of house breaking and larceny.

Fofanah was arraigned for allegedly breaking into the residence of James Tommy Beah at No15 George Brook, Dwarzark, in the Western Area of Freetown on Friday, 12 September 2025. According to the charge sheet, he is accused of stealing one Apple AirPod valued at Le2,400 and physical cash amounting to Le15,000, totaling Le17,900. The charge is brought under Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

During the court proceedings, Detective Police Constable 18235 Thoronka K.K, the prosecutor, requested a short adjournment to prepare and lead his witness. Defense counsel E.J. Aruna Esq renewed his earlier bail application on behalf of the accused.

Magistrate Fornah granted bail in the sum of Le20,000 with one surety in like amount. The surety must be a resident of Freetown and present a valid identity card showing proof of address. Bail is subject to approval by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.

The matter has been adjourned to Monday, 27 October 2025, for further hearing.
