Dr. Sorie Conteh Clinches Triple Honors at West African Physicians Summit

DAKAR, SENEGAL — Sierra Leonean physician Dr. Sorie Conteh has achieved a historic milestone at the 49th Annual General and Scientific Meeting (AGSM) of the West African College of Physicians (WACP), held on October 27, 2025, in Dakar. Dr. Conteh received three prestigious awards in the cardiology sub-specialty, marking a moment of pride for Sierra Leone’s medical community.

Dr. Conteh was honored with:

  • The A.C. Ikeme Prize – Best Fellowship Candidate in Cardiology
  • The Austin Obasohan Prize – Best Candidate in Fellowship Examinations in Cardiology
  • The Theophilus Oladipo Ogunlesi Prize – Best Dissertation in Cardiology

These accolades recognize Dr. Conteh’s exceptional academic performance, clinical expertise, and commitment to advancing cardiovascular medicine. His achievements serve as a beacon of inspiration for aspiring physicians across West Africa.

In addition to Dr. Conteh’s triple win, the AGSM also celebrated the induction of nine Sierra Leonean doctors into the fellowship of the WACP, further solidifying the country’s growing reputation in regional medical excellence.
