Sierra Leone — Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah of Pademba Road Court No.1 on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, discharged a form two pupil, who was facing charges of wounding and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Kamara was accused of maliciously wounding Mohamed Pizaro Kamara and assaulting him in a manner that caused actual bodily harm on September  4, 2025 in Freetown. He was charged under Section 20 and Section 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861.

Upon the charges being read, Kamara pleaded guilty and appealed to the court for leniency, citing that he was a first-time offender and still in school. The police prosecutor, ASP Ibrahim Mansaray, confirmed Kamara’s clean record and submitted an audio recording of the pupil pleading for mercy.

In a moment that captured the court’s attention, Magistrate Jah asked Kamara to define basic grammar terms—“noun” and “verb”—to which the pupil responded.

Taking into account Kamara’s age, academic status as a Form Two pupil, and his lack of prior offenses, Magistrate Jah ruled not to impose a custodial sentence or alternative punishment. Instead, he cautioned and discharged the pupil, urging him to maintain good behavior going forward.
