Sierra Leone – December 3, 2025: The National Water Resources Management Agency (NWRMA) has successfully concluded a high-level stakeholder engagement to validate its Strategic Development Plan (SDP) for 2026–2030. The one-day session, held at the Agency’s Conference Room, brought together experts, partners, and institutional representatives to review and enrich the draft plan that will guide NWRMA’s operations over the next five years.

The SDP sets out priorities in sustainable water resources management, policy strengthening, institutional capacity building, climate resilience, and integrated water governance across Sierra Leone.

In his opening statement, NWRMA Director General Ing. Pierre Palmer commended the diverse participation, describing attendees as “some of the best minds in Sierra Leone’s water and natural resources management sectors.” He urged stakeholders to critically examine the draft plan to ensure it reflects current realities and emerging environmental challenges.

“Your presence here today demonstrates a shared commitment to safeguarding our nation’s water resources. Together, let us ensure that this document stands the test of time,” Palmer said.

The session featured technical presentations, group discussions, and expert reviews, all aimed at aligning the SDP with national development priorities, global environmental standards, and the needs of communities dependent on water resources.

Participants praised NWRMA’s inclusive approach, noting that broad stakeholder involvement is vital for achieving sustainable outcomes in water governance.

The validated Strategic Development Plan will undergo final refinement before its official launch and implementation. Once adopted, it is expected to strengthen Sierra Leone’s water resources management framework and enhance the country’s resilience to climate and environmental pressures.
