December 10, 2025: Sierra Leone’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Timothy Kabba, has confirmed that he is actively engaging with the United States government to resolve visa restrictions recently imposed under a travel ban announced by US President Donald Trump.
The new policy, which primarily affects countries in Africa and the Middle East, places 12 nations under full travel bans and seven others under partial restrictions. Sierra Leone is among the countries facing partial restrictions, with visa overstays cited as the key issue in cases involving Burundi, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, and Turkmenistan.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Minister Kabba reassured citizens that diplomatic efforts are underway to address the sanctions and restrictions affecting various visa categories. He urged Sierra Leoneans to remain patient as the government works toward a peaceful and constructive resolution.
The Foreign Minister emphasized that Sierra Leone values its relationship with the United States and is committed to resolving the matter in a way that safeguards the interests of citizens, while strengthening bilateral ties.
