FREETOWN, December 18, 2025 – Thousands of Sierra Leoneans, mainly youths and supporters of the All People’s Congress (APC), converged at Fourah Bay Field on Thursday for the official launch of Ady Macauley’s campaign, an event described as more than a political rally but a festival, aptly named “Ady Fest.”

Widely known as the “People’s Lawyer” and a voice for marginalized Sierra Leoneans, Macauley has positioned himself as a champion for youth empowerment and inclusive national development. His campaign launch carried the theme: “Building Bridges & Creating Opportunities for All.”

Campaign Vision

The Ady Macauley Movement seeks to promote inclusive growth through community development initiatives, youth empowerment programmes, and platforms that encourage civic participation. These objectives form part of Macauley’s broader political agenda, encapsulated by the campaign message #VoteAdy2026, which underscores his ambition to lead the APC and ultimately contest for national leadership.

Macauley’s aspiration to lead the APC reflects his growing influence within the party. As a prominent legal practitioner and advocate for justice, he has built a reputation for defending ordinary citizens and challenging systemic inequalities. His supporters argue that his leadership would bring fresh energy to the APC, particularly among the youth, who make up the majority of Sierra Leone’s population.

Event Highlights

The programme featured keynote addresses, community-focused discussions, interactive engagement sessions, and live musical performances, offering attendees opportunities to engage with the movement’s objectives and explore avenues for involvement.

The Western Region Executive of the APC officially endorsed Macauley’s movement, signalling strong party backing for his initiative.

Chief Sam Sumana’s Presence

In a significant show of support, Chief Sam Sumana, former Vice President of Sierra Leone under the APC (2007–2015) and a Global Peace Ambassador, arrived at Fourah Bay Field to grace the ceremony. His presence underscored the importance of the event and highlighted the collaboration between established party figures and emerging voices like Macauley.

Sumana’s attendance was seen as a symbolic gesture of unity and continuity within the APC, reinforcing the party’s commitment to fostering peace, integrity, and progress.

As anticipation builds around Macauley’s campaign, analysts note that his movement represents a new chapter in APC politics, blending grassroots mobilisation with national aspirations. The collaboration between seasoned leaders and youthful advocates promises to reshape the party’s trajectory as it prepares for the 2026 elections.
