Freetown, January 5, 2026: Concerns have circulated among citizens regarding the health of Sierra Leone’s President, Julius Maada Bio, after recent images appeared to show him physically diminished. The speculation has sparked public debate about his ability to continue performing his duties as Head of State.
Reports in some quarters suggested that the President may have been fatigued following his demanding international and local assignments, including his recent appointment as Chairman of ECOWAS. Other accounts claimed that he may be following a diet regimen to maintain a healthy lifestyle, while some speculated about possible underlying health conditions.
In response to these rumors, the Press Secretary at the Office of the President, Yusuf Keketoma Sandi Esq., categorically dismissed the claims, assuring the public that President Bio remains in good health.
“The President is in good health, sir. He is fit to do the job and he will continue to do the job,” Sandi told Premier News.
The Press Secretary’s statement is intended to reassure citizens and dispel speculation, emphasizing that President Bio continues to discharge his responsibilities effectively.
