Freetown, February 4,  2026: Government pathologist Dr. Simeon Owizz Koroma has revealed that the late Sia Fatu Kamara died as a result of manual strangulation following a physical assault, a disclosure that has intensified the ongoing murder trial of Abdul Kpaka.

Courtroom Revelation

Testifying before Magistrate Court on Wednesday, Dr. Koroma explained that his conclusion was based on findings detailed in the official autopsy report. The report confirmed that Kamara’s cause of death was asphyxia consistent with manual strangulation, an act that suggests deliberate violence.

The atmosphere in court reflected the gravity of the evidence, which significantly impacts the trial of Kpaka, accused of killing Kamara in August 2024.

Kpaka faces a two-count indictment:

  • Murder
  • Perverting the course of justice

He has been held on remand since his arrest, with bail repeatedly denied due to the seriousness of the charges.

The case has drawn intense public attention, heightened by harrowing testimony from the victim’s family and allegations of domestic abuse that surfaced earlier in the proceedings.

The court has adjourned proceedings until later in February 2026, as investigations continue to unfold.
