The items distributed included school bags, notebooks, exercise books, erasers, geometry sets, ledger books, Oxford dictionaries, pencils, pens, rulers, and scientific calculators. The support is expected to ease financial burdens on parents while improving learning conditions for pupils in the beneficiary communities.

AGL Sub-Regional Manager, Captain Fabjanko Kokan, reaffirmed the company’s belief that education is the foundation of national development. “Education is the key to success, not only in Sierra Leone but across the world. Educating children is the most powerful tool for change in any nation,” he said, stressing that AGL’s operations in 45 African countries with over 25,000 employees are guided by a commitment to give back to communities.

FTL General Manager, Mr. Maroun Abi-Aad, described education as the greatest gift that can be offered to children, noting that AGL’s investment is an investment in future leaders. He emphasized that the initiative forms part of the company’s sustained corporate social responsibility efforts.

AGL Human Resource Manager, Mrs. Yvonne Elliott, highlighted the importance of responsible corporate citizenship. “This investment of over Le 440,000 is not just support—it is a responsibility,” she said, urging beneficiaries to make good use of the materials.

Representing the communities, Mr. Abu Bakarr Barrie, Chairman of Moa Wharf, expressed gratitude to AGL, describing the gesture as life-changing. He noted that many beneficiaries of previous AGL programmes have successfully completed school and graduated, pledging that communities would safeguard the company’s investments and maintain peace near port facilities.
