Women Officers Relaunch Association, Renew Commitment to Service

Sierra Leone – February 13, 2026: The Correctional Service Women Officers Association (CORSWOA) has been officially relaunched at the Sierra Leone Correctional Service (SLCS) New Administrative Building, Special Court, Freetown. The three-day event marked a historic milestone for the institution, coinciding with the appointment of Madam Susan Baby Koker as the first female Deputy Director General of SLCS.

Madam Koker, whose principled leadership has been widely praised, now heads CORSWOA. Under her guidance, the association aims to provide progressive, effective, and reliable leadership for female officers within the correctional service. The relaunch seeks to introduce forward-looking initiatives, reforms, and programs designed to enhance the welfare and professional development of women officers.

The relaunch ceremony featured a variety of activities, including seminars, an interfaith service, and a celebratory gathering. The event attracted prominent national and international personalities, with seasoned corrections officers from Zambia and Liberia delivering inspiring lectures. These foreign delegates shared valuable insights into correctional service management and operations, motivating participants with their experiences.

National and international speakers addressed the theme of the relaunch, “Breaking Barriers and Redefining Strength.” Discussions emphasized the critical role of women in leadership and their capacity to contribute meaningfully to institutional growth and societal development when given the platform.
