Freetown, Sierra Leone – February 22, 2026:  The Institute for Governance Reform (IGR) has congratulated the All People’s Congress (APC) on the successful conduct of its lower-level internal party elections held nationwide on February 21, 2026.

In a statement, IGR emphasized that internal party elections are vital to democratic consolidation, noting that transparent, orderly, and participatory processes strengthen party cohesion and reinforce Sierra Leone’s broader democratic culture.

As the APC advances to constituency-level elections and continues its flagbearer selection process, IGR urged all stakeholders to uphold civility, fairness, and respect for due process. The think tank stressed that effective management of internal competition within constitutional frameworks is essential to democratic maturity.

IGR further encouraged all political parties to treat internal elections as opportunities to model inclusive, rules-based governance and strengthen public trust.

Reaffirming its non-partisan role, IGR stated its commitment to advancing democratic accountability, institutional strengthening, and inclusive governance in Sierra Leone.
