Freetown, 2 March 2026 — Babadi Kamara, President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), has intensified efforts to bring closure to the long-running 2014 match-fixing investigation.
Kamara recently held high-level talks with Drucil Taylor, a member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Disciplinary Committee and former Chairman of the SLFA Ethics Board. The meeting focused on strengthening football governance frameworks and establishing clear, legally sound mechanisms to resolve the decade-old case involving allegations against several players and officials.
Kamara stressed that resolving the matter is a top priority, noting that its protracted nature demands urgent but rigorous action to safeguard justice, transparency, and the integrity of the sport.
He formally thanked Taylor for his continued service at the continental level, commending him as a positive representative of Sierra Leone in African football administration.
Taylor provided insights into the status of the 2014 investigation and other disciplinary matters that were pending before the dissolution of the former Ethics Board in 2023. He pledged to support the current leadership by facilitating access to documentation and assisting the reconstituted Ethics Board in clarifying the case.
Both parties agreed that strict adherence to due process, institutional continuity, and evidentiary transparency are essential for reaching a lawful and definitive conclusion.
The SLFA leadership reaffirmed its determination to resolve the outstanding issues, signaling a renewed push to close one of Sierra Leone’s most controversial football governance chapters.
