Bo, March 16, 2026 – The Community Relations Department (CRD) and Family Support Unit (FSU) of the Sierra Leone Police have conducted a sensitisation programme for pupils of UMC Secondary School in Njagboima, Bo, focusing on sexual harassment and drug abuse.
The initiative forms part of the police’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness among young people about critical social issues that affect their safety, well-being, and future development.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Nabieu, Line Manager of the FSU, and Mr. Tokohina jointly addressed the topic of sexual harassment, explaining its various forms within schools, communities, and online platforms. They stressed the serious legal and social consequences of such acts and encouraged pupils to report abuse to trusted authorities, assuring them of the FSU’s commitment to protecting victims and ensuring justice.
On drug abuse, Mr. Kallon warned against substances such as tramadol, kush, and other illicit drugs, highlighting their harmful effects on health, education, and the risk of exposure to criminal activities. Pupils were urged to resist peer pressure and focus on their studies and positive pursuits.
The session was interactive, with pupils asking questions and sharing views, reflecting strong interest in understanding the dangers of sexual harassment and drug abuse. School authorities expressed appreciation to the Sierra Leone Police, noting that such awareness programmes are vital in helping pupils understand their rights, responsibilities, and the consequences of harmful practices.
The programme concluded with a call from the police team for pupils to remain disciplined, respect the law, and serve as ambassadors of positive change in their school and communities.
