FREETOWN, March 13, 2026 – The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has pledged to support Sierra Leone’s National Revenue Authority (NRA) in enhancing the administration and collection of Goods and Services Tax (GST).
The announcement followed a high-level technical meeting held at Rensis House in Freetown, which brought together NRA Commissioner General Jeneba J. Bangura, senior officials, and representatives from the Ministry of Finance.
Discussions centered on practical strategies to improve GST compliance, strengthen monitoring systems, and boost overall revenue performance. The initiative builds on a recent ECOWAS capacity-building program focused on domestic revenue mobilization and cross-border e-commerce.
During the meeting, the NRA outlined priority areas requiring technical assistance, while both parties reaffirmed their commitment to sustained collaboration. The partnership aims to improve tax administration and support Sierra Leone’s long-term revenue generation efforts.
