Kailahun, Sierra Leone – March 23, 2026: All People’s Congress (APC) regional strongwoman Finda Diana Konomanyi has publicly declared her support for Dr. Ibrahim Bangura, one of the party’s leading flagbearer aspirants, during a visit to Kailahun District.

Konomanyi urged delegates to prioritize humility, capacity, and quality leadership in their choice of flagbearer, describing Dr. Bangura as the candidate who best embodies those qualities.

During his address, Dr. Bangura called for a moment of silence to mark the anniversary of Sierra Leone’s civil war, which began in Kailahun on March 23, 1991. He reflected on the district’s history, noting that his research on women in peacebuilding had deepened his connection to the area. “Kailahun holds a special place in my heart,” he said, commending APC supporters for their loyalty.

Dr. Bangura also praised former President Ernest Bai Koroma’s infrastructural developments, including the road network and pipe-borne water project, and urged party faithful to remain disciplined and united ahead of the 2028 elections.

The gathering concluded with calls for unity, discipline, and sacrifice within the APC as the flagbearer contest intensifies. The event was well-attended by APC executives, stakeholders, and newly elected ward chairmen and women, who reaffirmed their support for Dr. Bangura’s leadership aspirations.
