The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has formally welcomed its National Chairman Emeritus, Dr. Sama S. Banya, following his appointment as Chief Adviser to the National Elders Council. The announcement was made during a courtesy visit to Unity House, where Dr. Banya was received by National Chairman Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa and Deputy National Chairman Robert Kondema Kargbo.

Fondly known as Pauwi by the Kailondo clan and many admirers, Dr. Banya graciously accepted the role, reaffirming his lifelong dedication to the Party. He expressed appreciation to the National Executive, particularly the National Chairman, for the structural reforms he observed, and urged members to put aside differences in the interest of unity and progress.

Dr. Banya advised that as the Party prepares for discussions on leadership and the election of a Flagbearer, executives must demonstrate neutrality to ensure a credible and transparent process. He emphasized the importance of discipline, focus, and unity as the SLPP positions itself for victory in the 2028 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.

Grassroots supporters welcomed him warmly with the song “We Papa Don Kam!”, reflecting the deep respect and affection he continues to command within the Party.

Dr. Banya departed Unity House confident in the SLPP’s strong administrative leadership and reaffirmed his readiness to serve with dedication for the rest of his life.
