Freetown, March 28, 2026: Ataya Base Organisation International, a local nongovernmental organisation, has donated essential food supplies to Cheshire Home in Cline Town, bringing relief to residents of the facility as part of its ongoing mission to support vulnerable communities in Sierra Leone.
The donation included five bags of rice, a bag of onions, two gallons of cooking oil, and two cartons of tomatoes—provisions vital to a home that relies heavily on external support to meet its daily needs.
Compassion in Action
Speaking during the presentation, the organisation’s Financial Secretary, Elkana Omotayo Harding, described the gesture as a collective effort driven by compassion. “We represent a large body of committed members, both at home and abroad. These contributions come from the heart. This is not for show—there is a real need,” he said. Harding emphasized that the support for Cheshire Home is ongoing, recalling similar donations made in previous years.
Gratitude from Cheshire Home
Receiving the items, Chairman Dr. Abdulai Don Dumbuya (Dr. Abs) expressed deep appreciation for the timely intervention. “This is truly a blessing. The children consume one full bag of rice each week, so these supplies mean a great deal to us. This home is entirely run on donations,” he noted.
Dr. Dumbuya highlighted the challenges faced by the facility, stressing that continued external support is essential to sustain operations. “Meeting basic needs, especially food, remains a constant challenge. Your support has come at a crucial time and ensures that the children continue to receive the care they deserve,” he said.
Beneficiary Blessing S. Kallon expressed gratitude on behalf of the residents, noting that the organisation’s consistent support brings hope. “This is not your first time supporting us, and you always come at the right time. Life here is not easy, and while the government tries, it is often not enough. Your presence brings hope,” she said.
The visit ended with smiles, prayers, and heartfelt appreciation from residents and staff, underscoring the impact of compassion in action.
Ataya Base Organisation International, made up of humanitarians in Sierra Leone and the diaspora, has built a reputation for consistent service and community impact. Its continued support to Cheshire Home reaffirms its commitment to uplifting vulnerable communities across the country
