Security Guard Remanded Over Alleged Theft

Freetown, May 25, 2026 – A 26‑year‑old security guard, Sampha Koroma, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown after appearing before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 on allegations of theft.

Koroma faces one count of larceny servant, contrary to Section 17(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the charge sheet, on April 28, 2026, along Wilkinson Road in the Western Area of Freetown, Koroma, while employed as a security guard by Mohamed Koroma, allegedly stole:

  • One generator battery
  • Iron props
  • Other assorted items valued at Le145,500

The property is said to belong to his employer.

Court Proceedings

When the charge was read and explained, no plea was taken as the matter is before the court on committal proceedings.

Prosecutor Inspector Kadie M. Taylor informed the bench that the defendant had been served with copies of the witness statements.

Magistrate Jah refused bail and ordered that Koroma be remanded at the Male Correctional Facility. The matter was adjourned to May 25, 2026 for further proceedings.
