FREETOWN – The High Court of Sierra Leone has remanded 40‑year‑old Fatou Zingie Gueya, a Senegalese national, on allegations of unlawful possession of cocaine at the Freetown International Airport, Lungi.
Gueya made her first appearance before Justice Mark Ngagba of High Court No. 8 on four counts of unlawful possession of prohibited drugs, contrary to Section 8(a) of the National Drugs Control Act, 2008.
Police investigators allege that on 3 April 2026, the accused was found with two parcels of cocaine weighing approximately 1.8 kilograms. Forensic analysis confirmed the substance as cocaine hydrochloride. Prosecutors further claim she transported the drugs from a hotel in Lungi to the airport without lawful authority.
Court records show that Gueya had boarded an Air Sénégal flight from Senegal, transited through The Gambia, and arrived in Sierra Leone. At the luggage screening point, Detective Inspector Hindolo Bundu Kamanda reportedly intercepted her and discovered the parcels containing the white powdery substance.
Proceedings were translated into French by interpreter Pateh Bah, after which the defendant pleaded not guilty to all charges.
State Prosecutor N. Jalloh requested an adjournment to allow witnesses to testify. Justice Ngagba granted the application and adjourned the matter to 17 June 2026.
The accused is represented by defence counsel M.K. Dauda.
