Sierra Leone — June 24, 2026 — Two employees of Amnet Filling Station, Noah Aleem Bun Kamara, Assistant Manager, and Joe Menfallah, Station Manager, have been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown following allegations of theft at the station.
The pair appeared before Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2, facing two charges: Conspiracy to defraud and Embezzlement under Section 17(1)(b) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
Allegations and Evidence
According to court documents, between May 1, 2025, and February 20, 2026, the defendants allegedly conspired with unknown persons to defraud Amnet Filling Station in Makeni, Bombali District. They are accused of embezzling Le473,800 received from customers on behalf of the station.
The first prosecution witness, DPC 17712 Mohamed Lahun, attached to the Economic Financial and Fraud Unit at CID Pademba Road, testified that the case was reported by complainant Isatu Bah on January 23, 2026. He confirmed that statements were obtained from the complainant and witnesses, alongside supporting documents such as Vista Bank statements and salary payment records.
Lahun further explained that on February 20, 2026, he and fellow investigator DPC 19325 Amara C.A. arrested the defendants in Makeni and transported them to Freetown. Voluntary caution statements were obtained in Krio, later translated into English, and signed by the defendants with thumbprints. These statements were tendered in court as part of the records.
On April 17, 2026, both defendants were formally charged with conspiracy to defraud and embezzlement, with charge statements also admitted into evidence.
Court Decision
Magistrate Fornah refused bail, citing the seriousness of the allegations, and ordered the defendants to be remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. The matter has been adjourned to June 26, 2026 for further proceedings.
