Council of Legal Education Appoints Interim Leadership at Law School

Freetown, June 30, 2026 — The Council of Legal Education has announced new interim leadership at the Sierra Leone Law School following the resignation of the former Director, which officially took effect today.

At a meeting held on June 30, the Council resolved to appoint an Acting Director and Assistant to oversee the institution while preparations are made to recruit a substantive Director.

Interim Appointments

  • Hon. Justice Fatmata Bintu Alhadi JSC has been appointed Acting Director.
  • Emmanuel Sahr Tondoneh Esq. has been named Assistant.

Registrar Daniel J. Lavally Esq. confirmed that recruitment for the substantive Director will be advertised soon, ensuring continuity in leadership and administration at the Law School.

The Council emphasized that these appointments are temporary but necessary to maintain stability and uphold academic and administrative standards during the transition. The forthcoming recruitment process is expected to attract qualified candidates to lead the institution into its next phase.

This development marks a significant moment for the Sierra Leone Law School, which plays a central role in training and certifying the country’s future legal professionals.
