Gender Minister Welcomes UNICEF’s New Country Representative

Freetown, August 3, 2026: The Minister of Gender and Children’s Affairs has officially received UNICEF’s new Country Representative, Ms. Mariko Kagoshima, during a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Ministry and the UN agency.

In her remarks, the Minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to advancing child rights, welfare, and protection across Sierra Leone. She expressed appreciation for UNICEF’s consistent support in safeguarding children and strengthening national child protection systems.

Ms. Kagoshima congratulated the Minister on her leadership and commended the Ministry’s dedication to ensuring that every child in Sierra Leone is safe, protected, and able to thrive. She pledged UNICEF’s continued support to the Government in delivering lasting results for children.

The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their shared commitment to deepen cooperation in promoting children’s rights and building a safer, more inclusive future for every child in Sierra Leone.
