SIERRA LEONE: — Mohamed Rahman Swarray has pledged humility, determination and continuity of service as he assumes office as Sierra Leone’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
In a statement on his official Facebook page on Monday, Swarray described his ministerial journey — from Information, to Labour, and now Diplomacy — as a continuum of public service built on trust and results.
A Journey of Service
Swarray first entered President Julius Maada Bio’s Cabinet as Minister of Information and Communications, where he said he had “the privilege of contributing to reforms in the information and communications landscape and strengthening the relationship between Government, the media and citizens.”
In 2023, he was appointed Minister of Employment, Labour and Social Security, focusing on “employment creation, labour reforms, industrial relations, social protection, workplace standards and strengthening opportunities for our people.”
Now, entrusted with Sierra Leone’s foreign policy portfolio, Swarray said he is “profoundly honoured” to represent and protect the country’s national interests on the international stage.
Continuity of Mission
Swarray emphasized that his successive appointments are not separate chapters but part of a single mission. “From communicating Sierra Leone’s aspirations, to advancing the dignity and productivity of its people, and now to representing and protecting our national interest internationally — public office is ultimately about service and results,” he declared.
He thanked President Bio for the confidence reposed in him, promising to build on existing diplomatic gains and strengthen Sierra Leone’s voice and standing in the world.
“The portfolio may change, but the mission remains the same: service to Sierra Leone,” Swarray affirmed.
