Freetown, August 21, 2026 – The Saving Lives Initiative Organisation, a U.S.-based non‑profit founded by childhood friends committed to strengthening Sierra Leone’s healthcare system, has donated medical equipment worth thousands of dollars to the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) Hospital.
The donation, presented on Friday, is aimed at boosting healthcare services and supporting surgical operations at the Police Hospital, while also benefitting other hospitals across the country.
Head of the organisation, Mr. Abdullah Malik Jalloh Jamboria, explained that the initiative focuses on sustainability and community support, with the Police Hospital serving as a key partner. “This donation is part of a broader effort to support the Sierra Leone Police and other hospitals across the country,” he said, commending the dedication of doctors, nurses, and medical staff who actively participate in training programmes and medical missions facilitated through the partnership.
The items include surgical masks, operating‑room masks, gloves, shoe covers, oxygen concentrators, patient monitors, syringes, computers, and other essential supplies. Mr. Jalloh Jamboria noted that the equipment will support day‑to‑day medical and surgical procedures and will be distributed to other hospitals to ensure wider access.
Representing the Inspector General of Police, ASP Dr. John M. Konteh, Deputy Director and Medical Superintendent of the Police Hospital, assured donors that the equipment would be put to effective use. He expressed appreciation to the Saving Lives Initiative and partners for their continued support, reaffirming the hospital’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery and patient services.
ASP Dr. Konteh expressed hope that the partnership would continue to grow, creating further opportunities for collaboration in Sierra Leone’s healthcare sector. On behalf of the Police and hospital management, he thanked the Saving Lives Initiative for its generosity and commitment to saving lives.
