Sierra Leone – August 26, 2026: The Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs (MoGCA) has convened a high-level Steering Committee meeting to accelerate implementation of the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (GEWE) Act 2022, bringing together representatives from Government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
The session centered on reviewing the 2025 Gender Accountability Framework Report, with stakeholders assessing achievements, identifying persistent challenges, and outlining stronger institutional actions. MDAs shared experiences, highlighted gaps in execution, and proposed practical steps to strengthen gender-responsive planning, budgeting, programming, and reporting.
Deliberations also launched preparations for the 2026 Gender Accountability Framework Report, with emphasis on measurable results and enhanced accountability.
MoGCA reaffirmed its commitment to institutionalizing gender equality across government, pledging continued collaboration, monitoring, and accountability to ensure the GEWE Act translates into concrete policies and programmes that advance women’s empowerment, equal opportunities, and inclusive development nationwide.
