LONDON, September 11, 2026: All People’s Congress (APC) flagbearer aspirant Dr. Ibrahim Bangura has made party unity, reconciliation and renewal the central theme of his campaign, warning against allowing the leadership contest to leave permanent divisions within the opposition party.
Dr. Bangura made the call during a high-profile town hall meeting with APC members and Sierra Leoneans in London on Friday, where he presented his political vision and appealed for a disciplined and inclusive approach to the party’s ongoing flagbearer race.
The meeting, held at the JK Banquet Hall in Forest Hill, also saw the launch of DIB Iron Ladies APC UK & Ireland, a women-led support movement campaigning for Dr. Bangura’s bid for the APC flagbearership.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Bangura said the APC must emerge from the current contest stronger rather than fractured. His campaign, he explained, is built around the simple but deliberate message: “Heal. Unite. Build.”
“There can only be one eventual flagbearer, but there must remain one APC,” Dr. Bangura declared.
The statement underscored what is increasingly becoming a defining feature of his campaign — an emphasis on reconciliation and the preservation of the party beyond the immediate competition for its top electoral position.
Dr. Bangura urged supporters of the different aspirants to maintain respect for one another, arguing that political competition should not be allowed to destroy relationships or weaken the organisational structure of the APC.
He called on party members to recognise that the flagbearer contest is temporary, while the APC itself must remain a permanent political institution capable of accommodating differing views and ambitions.
