Freetown, September 2026: The Ministry of Information and Civic Education has outlined a series of reforms and initiatives following its session at Chief Minister Moinina David Sengeh’s Delivery Clinic, where all six departments and directorates were assessed and given clear timelines to deliver on President Julius Maada Bio’s vision.
Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, said the clinic provided “progressive medications” in the form of guidance, support, and accountability measures to strengthen the ministry’s work.
Among the key highlights are:
- New Data Protection Authority – A Data Protection and Freedom of Information Authority to be rolled out before December 2026.
- SLBC Transformation – Establishment of a Special Purpose Vehicle for the state broadcaster, including building renovation, digital transition, and creation of a Public Broadcasting Fund.
- Digitization Drive – Acceleration of digitizing government records and archives, alongside passage of a new records and archives law currently before Parliament.
- Sierra Leone Daily Mail – Conversion of the Daily Mail into a multimedia government news platform with signature programs.
- Salone Civic Festival – Launching in November and December as a central hub for major government policy and program rollouts.
- Civic Engagement Projects – Implementation of a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) covering civic activities, record transition, and Leicester Peak fencing.
- Government Printing Department – Introduction of a robust new system to enhance accountability and management.
- Leicester Peak Digitization – Digitizing co-location payments and securing the full perimeter transparently.
Minister Bah noted that Chief Minister Sengeh asked pointed questions, provided guidance, and ensured accountable timelines for each initiative. “We left the Clinic feeling very well treated and ready for the sprint of the next few months,” Bah said in his statement.
The reforms are expected to strengthen transparency, improve service delivery, and modernize Sierra Leone’s information and civic education systems as part of the government’s broader delivery agenda.
