FREETOWN, Oct. 3, 2026: The Children’s Forum Network (CFN), under the supervision of the Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs (MoGCA), has elected a new executive team to lead the organization and advance children’s participation in issues affecting their rights and welfare across Sierra Leone.
The elections, conducted with support from Plan International Sierra Leone and Save the Children Sierra Leone, resulted in the selection of four new leaders who will steer the affairs of the network.
The newly elected executives are: Sheriff Bangura – President, Mustapha Yembai Kallon – Vice President, Marie Sowa – Secretary General, and Sulaiman Kargbo – Public Relations Officer (PRO).
In a statement issued through its Communications Unit, the Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs congratulated the newly elected team and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Children’s Forum Network in carrying out its mandate under the Ministry’s guidance and supervision.
The Ministry said the elections represent another significant milestone in promoting children’s leadership, representation and meaningful engagement in decision-making processes that affect their lives.
It also commended all children who participated in the electoral process, describing the exercise as a demonstration of democratic participation and youth leadership.
The newly elected executives are expected to champion the interests of children across the country and work with stakeholders to amplify young voices on issues relating to education, protection, health and child rights.
The Ministry and its development partners expressed confidence that the new leadership will continue to strengthen the network’s role as a platform for child advocacy and participation in national development.
