In a remarkable demonstration of commitment to youth empowerment, the All People’s Congress (APC) standard-bearer hopeful Lawyer Ady Macauley delivered on his promise to support sports as a tool for community transformation, awarding a 30 million Leones cash prize during the third-place match of the Kambia District Council Football Champions League at Masorie Field, Barmoi Luma.

Macauley, who attended the tournament launch over a month ago, pledged financial incentives for the third-place winners and runners-up. His return on match day to personally fulfill that promise underscored his dedication to grassroots sports and youth development.

Speaking to an enthusiastic crowd, Macauley emphasized the broader significance of football beyond competition. “This is more than football,” he stated. “It’s about peace, discipline, passion, and unity. When young people come together like this—to play, to cheer, to dream—we are witnessing real nation-building.”

Macauley’s engagement went beyond financial support, reflecting his hands-on leadership approach. He urged players and supporters to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship, saying, “Regardless of who wins or loses today, let’s shake hands, hug each other, and go home with joy. This spirit is what keeps Sierra Leone strong.”

A long-time advocate for youth development, Macauley has continuously promoted sports as a means to foster unity, reduce crime, and provide career opportunities. “Many of our greatest athletes, leaders, and change-makers started on fields like this,” he noted. “If we invest in our youth now—in their passions, in their communities—we invest in the future of Sierra Leone.”

Macauley’s support for the Kambia District Football League serves as an example of how influential figures can contribute meaningfully to national progress. His presence at Barmoi Luma sent a powerful message—that leadership is about engaging directly with the people, supporting their aspirations, and investing in initiatives that drive social change.

As the final whistle blew, cheers erupted—not just for the match outcome, but for a leader who stood with his community, inspiring youth and reaffirming the potential of sports as a vehicle for transformation.
