Port Loko witnessed an extraordinary display of unity and political momentum on Friday, May 23, 2025, as Ady Macauley, the leading presidential candidate of the All People’s Congress (APC), joined fellow worshippers in observing Jummah prayers in his hometown. His presence drew large crowds, including both Muslim and non-Muslim residents, underscoring widespread support for his bid to become the APC flagbearer ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Macauley’s visit was met with enthusiastic cheers, with many interpreting the overwhelming turnout as a sign of divine favor and political endorsement. The atmosphere was described by observers as “breathtaking,” with supporters calling on the APC leadership to recognize grassroots sentiments and select Macauley as the party’s standard-bearer.
Among those in attendance were individuals who had previously faced unjust arrests and legal challenges. Many tearfully recounted how Macauley’s advocacy had secured their release, portraying him as a “champion of the grassroots” and a staunch defender of justice and fairness.
During a brief address, Macauley expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed his dedication to serving the people of Port Loko.
“I have heard your cries, and that is why I am contesting for the flagbearer position of the APC. This decision is not for my benefit alone but for the collective good of all,” he stated.
Emphasizing his commitment to engaging with party members and local leaders, Macauley noted that he prioritized meeting with the people before any formal discussions with APC officials in Port Loko.
The event concluded with solemn prayers for the nation, marking an emotional and symbolic moment in Macauley’s campaign journey.
