Freetown, Sierra Leone – June 5, 2025: Prominent lawyer and former Anti-Corruption Commissioner, Ady Macauley, has declared himself as the strongest candidate in the race for the All People’s Congress (APC) presidential flagbearer ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Appearing on AYV Television’s Wake Up Sierra Leone, Macauley laid out his vision for leadership, emphasizing the need for bold and transformative governance.

“I am the strongest in the race,” he asserted, adding that Sierra Leoneans are yearning for leadership that delivers tangible results, not just promises.

Macauley cited his tenure at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), particularly his launch of the Pay No Bribe campaign in 2011, as a key achievement in tackling petty corruption in public service institutions.

He did not hold back in criticizing the current Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) administration, alleging rising levels of corruption and poor fiscal management.

Solutions for National Challenges

Macauley also highlighted electricity as a major national issue, blaming mismanagement within the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) for the persistent blackouts and unreliable power supply.

“Sierra Leoneans are tired of endless excuses,” he remarked. “They want leadership that delivers lasting solutions.”

While acknowledging the country’s complex challenges, Macauley cautioned against expecting instant fixes but assured voters of gradual, massive, and positive change under his leadership.

Addressing Party Unity and APC Cohesion

In response to concerns over internal divisions within the APC, Macauley dismissed rumors of deep fractures, asserting that the party remains united in purpose.

“The APC is not divided. Yes, we may have our differences, but we are united and strong,” he said. “I am ready to be the glue that holds the party together and lead it forward with integrity.”

With the race for the APC presidential flagbearer gaining momentum, Macauley has positioned himself as a formidable contender, drawing on his anti-corruption credentials, governance experience, and commitment to national progress.
