AGL Extends Ramadan Support to Communities

FREETOWN, 16 March 2026 – Africa Global Logistics (AGL) has reaffirmed its commitment to community development and humanitarian support by hosting its annual Ramadan donation ceremony at the Freetown Terminal Limited (FTL). The event brought together community leaders, beneficiaries, media representatives, and company officials in a show of unity and compassion.

The ceremony, held in observance of the holy month of Ramadan, provided essential food items to surrounding communities while reinforcing AGL’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) objectives centered on empathy, inclusion, and sustainable engagement.

Delivering the keynote address, Director Cluster WAF, Captain Fabjan Kokan, emphasized that AGL’s intervention goes beyond material donations. “Humanity must always come first,” he said, stressing that the initiative demonstrates solidarity and compassion in challenging times.

General Manager Maroun Abi-Aad described the donation as a token of appreciation to host communities, noting that Ramadan serves as a reminder of shared values such as love, generosity, and unity. HRM Yvonne Elliot disclosed that the donated food and supplies were valued at over 500,000 euros, underscoring AGL’s commitment to equitable distribution and social welfare.

Community representatives warmly received the gesture. Lamin Koroma, Chairperson of the Sea Side Community, confirmed that items would be distributed across nine mosques, while Abu Bakarr Barrie of Moah Wharf Community noted that five mosques had been prioritized, particularly targeting the elderly and vulnerable.

Councillor Abu Bakarr Tejan Jalloh of Ward 420, Constituency 121, commended AGL’s support but urged the company to expand its CSR focus to include long-term infrastructural projects such as sanitation facilities and access to clean water.

The ceremony concluded with the official handover of food items, marking another milestone in AGL’s ongoing efforts to support vulnerable communities during Ramadan. The event highlighted the company’s philanthropic commitment while opening conversations about the need for sustainable development alongside humanitarian aid.
