FREETOWN — African Global Logistics (AGL) Sierra Leone commemorated its annual Solidarity Day on Thursday, 25 September 2025, with a renewed call for unity, compassion, and collective responsibility among staff and surrounding communities. The event, now in its second edition, was held under the theme “Health,” highlighting the vital link between solidarity and well-being.
Speaking at the ceremony, AGL Sub-Regional Manager Captain Fabjanko Kokan described Solidarity Day as a tradition aimed at fostering togetherness and deepening understanding of humanity within the workplace and beyond.
“This day is about bringing our people together, avoiding division, and promoting tolerance,” Kokan said. “If we build solidarity within our organisation, we can extend it to our neighbours, our communities, and even globally.”
He emphasized that solidarity is not just a workplace value but a universal need, urging staff to embrace collective thinking over individualism. “Selfishness is destroying the world,” he warned. “We must help those who need us, and with patience and courage, we can bring about meaningful change.”
As part of this year’s celebration, AGL announced plans to donate medical supplies to health facilities in nearby communities. The initiative aligns with the event’s health-focused theme and reflects the company’s commitment to social responsibility.
General Manager of AGL-Sierra Leone echoed the importance of health as a cornerstone of sustainable development, dignity, and human well-being. “Health is not only a personal matter—it is a collective responsibility,” he said. “On a continent where many still struggle to access basic healthcare, solidarity becomes even more essential.”
He added that the company’s support to a local healthcare centre is a modest but meaningful step toward improving access to medical care. “This action reflects our role as a responsible partner and active contributor to the communities we operate in.”
The celebration featured a series of activities designed to promote wellness, reflection, and team spirit. Staff were reminded that health and safety go hand in hand, and were encouraged to take care of themselves and support one another.
“Let us continue to build a culture of health, safety, and solidarity,” the General Manager concluded.
