Freetown, January 26, 2026 – Air Sierra Leone has announced the launch of new international and regional routes as part of its first anniversary celebrations, unveiling direct services from The Gambia to the United Kingdom and a new Freetown–Banjul connection set to begin in February.

According to Sukhjinder Mann, Group Chief Operating Officer at XE Jet Limited, the airline’s technical partner, direct flights will commence from Banjul International Airport to London Gatwick Airport. Mann said the new service is designed to improve air connectivity between West Africa and the UK, reducing travel times and offering passengers more efficient travel options.

In addition to the Banjul–London route, Air Sierra Leone will introduce a direct Freetown–Banjul service, aimed at strengthening regional connectivity within West Africa. The airline noted that the new route will support trade, tourism, and people-to-people exchange between Sierra Leone and The Gambia.

Speaking on the expansion, Mann emphasized the airline’s commitment to continuous growth and regional integration.

“We are extremely grateful to the governments of the United Kingdom and The Gambia for believing in our vision, understanding our business model, and supporting our commitment to increasing connectivity between Africa and European markets,” he said.

He added that the Banjul–London service will provide year-round connectivity, while the Freetown–Banjul route will enhance regional travel efficiency.

“Within a year of launching flight operations, Air Sierra Leone is now firmly embedded on the global aviation stage, and we will look to further increase our network in the coming months,” Mann noted.

The announcement comes as Air Sierra Leone marks its first anniversary of flight operations. Officially introduced by the Ministry of Transport in October 2024, the airline began initial services in December 2024, with full commercial operations on the London route starting in June 2025.

Since then, the carrier has recorded steady growth and rising passenger confidence. The airline said travelers on the new routes can expect seamless connections and the hospitality standards it has become known for.
