Sierra Leone — September 2, 2025: Ambassador Omrie Golley, a seasoned diplomat, has formally reiterated his intention to contest for the flagbearer position of the All Peoples Congress (APC) ahead of the party’s 2028 National Delegates Conference (NDC).

In a heartfelt personal statement addressed to the APC family, including national officers, regional and district executives, and fellow aspirants, Ambassador Golley expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of support following the recent passing of his mother, Minnette Iyatunde Honora Joyce Golley (née Luke-Cole). He described the solidarity shown by party members as a powerful reminder of the unity and comradeship that defines the APC.

“This display of comradeship has brought renewed energy to my work to help promote and propel the APC into a party ready to regain governance and redeem Sierra Leone from the clutches of penury and deprivation,” Ambassador Golley stated.

A Call for Unity and Purpose

Ambassador Golley emphasized that the upcoming 2028 elections represent a pivotal moment for both the APC and Sierra Leone. He called for a transition of purpose—one that moves beyond tribal rhetoric and political division toward national unity, development, and inclusive governance.

He positioned himself as a candidate with the experience and temperament to rebuild broken bridges within the party and the nation. Drawing on his legacy as a peace negotiator during Sierra Leone’s civil conflict and his diplomatic tenure in South Korea, Golley underscored his commitment to infrastructural development, peace, and economic empowerment.

“The APC’s existence has always been a movement of salvation and liberation,” he said. “We must suppress hate, marginalisation, nepotism, and corruption.”

Golley’s statement also highlighted his grassroots focus and his belief in equitable opportunity for all Sierra Leoneans. He pledged to uphold the party’s ideals and work toward a future marked by transparency, unity, and prosperity.

His message concluded with a rallying call to supporters to remain steadfast in the journey toward governance in 2028.
